Preparing Your Quilt
There are a few steps you should follow to ensure your happiness with your finished product.
- Quilt tops should be square and free of puckers (quilting will not fix a puckered top).
- Quilt backs should be at least 6 inches larger that the quilt top on every side (including top and bottom). That adds up to a back that is one foot taller and one foot wider that the top. We can accomodate quilt tops up to 112 inches in the narrowest dimension.
- Mark the "head" of the top and back so we know how to assemble the quilt "sandwich". If you do not indicate an orientation for the back, we will use the label as an indication of the orientation you want.
- If you do not have an outer border on your quilt, sticth a seam around the perimeter, approximately 1/4" from the outside edge. This will help prevent your quilt top from skewing out of alignment when we put it on the quilt frame.
- Make sure your quilt top is free from "embellishments" We cannot quilt a top that has buttons, sequins, crystals, etc. These items will interfere with the sewing, causing broken needles as well as other problems.
- T-Shirt quilts will not be accepted without prior approval.
We reserve the right to refuse any quilt top that we believe we cannot quilt successfully or without damaging.
